Hi,it’s me again. I knew I would be back lol.Well I have no idea what’s wrong,I installed sims 3 on my laptop no problems, but when I go into the game my screen isn’t full size I am missing about 2 1/2 inches on either side,I’ve gone thru all the settings even updated my driver’s,Thinking it was maybe just sims 3 I installed sims 2 on here as well but no luck it’s the same size, and just to let you know there are no program’s that show as that size even my desktop is as large as my laptop.I do hope someone knows whats wrong..BTW I am running windows 7 ..Thank you for your time …Cheer’s :002_ssmile:

Yes, Windows 7 is a great OS, but it’s vastly different to XP. All I can suggest is that you run it in windowed mode at the same resolution as your desktop:
Right-click on the Sims 3 startup icon, then send, or create a shortcut on your desktop
On this shortcut, right-click and select ‘Properties’
At the end of the “target” line, add a space and the text “-w”, without the quotesYou could also use any of the following command lines instead of the “-w”:
-w windowed mode
-f fullscreen mode
-nosound run with no sound
-r800x600 run at 800 x 600 resolution
-r(w)x(h) run at (w) x (h) resolutionBut saying all that, I always run my Sims games in windowed mode anyway, as it’s easier to take screenshots and videos, and to switch between programs. Although I must admit, I never had any problems with the fullscreen mode in Windows 7, so I’m not sure why it won’t run for you.
Try searching through the official Sims 3 site to see if they can help…you can put in a support request and they should be able to help you. Their support isn’t the fastest, but they do get there. 🙂

Hi, yes, I struggle with the Sims 3 on my own laptop unfortunately. I’ll have to keep plugging away at my husband for a new one! lol
By the way, have you searched for an updated graphics driver to download?

How’s that working out for you?? My Husband is a tight arse lol and yes Ladyangel I have and I have the latest driver’s.It’s so weird I used a site “Can you run it” and it passes for Sim’s 3 but fail’s for Sim’s 2 even tho it say’s that I still can’t get a full screen…I almost tempted to see if Laptop’s can fly if you throw them out the window lol I seriously think that Window’s 7 has some major updating to do before I attempt to put it on my PC,but tysm for your help.

Well I’ve told my husband if I sell my laptop, and his, then spend another few hundred quid I’d be able to get a gaming laptop, but for some reason the idea doesn’t appeal to him…can’t think why!

Lmaooo,What can I say?? Women are selfless!! and Men ?? well I will remain ladylike 😛 One trick of mine is to save $2 or $5 out of the food shopping if I have something in mind I’d like to buy..having said that by the time you and I saved up enough we would be too old to be able to use a new laptop lol!! So you and I will probably perserver with our old ones (wink)

Well my son-in-law is a tech whiz and he’s advised me to upgrade my desktop pc instead, which is what I’ll probably do. It’s much cheaper and easier to fix if something goes wrong.

No probs…I hope you manage ok. I think I’ll stick with Windows XP on my desktop. It runs just about everything and uses less resources. 🙂
